- Moby Dick -
Day 373
Anyone familiar with Herman Melville's classic novel Moby Dick knows of Captain Ahab's quest for the great white whale. I suppose it can be a cautionary tale about letting a passion turn into an obsession. I absolutely love drawing; being both a job and a hobby it is a huge part of my life, sometimes to the point of crowding out other activities (frustrating my wife and friends on occasion!). But I try not to let that happen too often—if I were to become too one-dimensional, too focused on drawing, I think my art would eventually suffer. I need those other life experiences to provide fuel for my imagination.
